Project Description:
Blood Donation Camp at Mayur Vihar Phase-1 Extn, Delhi on 24th of October, 2010.
Inspired by a community of committed and extra ordinary people in SELP, I created this project primarily to make people in neighbourhood aware about benefits of donating blood, thereby inviting them to donate blood and save lives. It was an amazing experience of one and a half months of preparation. There were times when I felt this project will not happen because of my own doubts. My breakthrough came when I relocated this project. In fact, in this process, a NGO "LIFE UTSAV" was born which took up this project. We had three sponsors to the event: Kotak Mahindra Bank, Trustline and SRL Religare. While Kotak Mahindra organised a Caricaturist to engage those very special people, the Donors, SRL Religare gave the discount coupons for any of the tests to be done with them. In totality, 192 Donors came to donate, 131 actually donated and 61 could not donate because of health reasons. We reached out to most of the residents of our vicinity through their RWAs and newspaper insertions. It was really a very fulfilling experience of organizing this event, having saved so many lives. Equally importantly, I came out of my safe zone and was truly unreasonable and unstoppable.
What I got out of SELP:
What I got out of SELP was an ability to empathise, be unstoppable and unreasonable, take a stand under difficult circumstances and have happy and empowered people around me. I have never been so honest in everything that I did, be it my project or my life during my participation in SELP. Even the poetry which I write became more refined. In fact, without SELP, not just Landmark curriculum, but life was incomplete. Thanks a ton to my esteemed SELP community.
My Future Plans:
My future plans regarding my association with Landmark Education is to remain associated with it through assisting in the immediate plan and be the ILP leader later. In my life, I would like to work on my business expansion, take up more socially useful projects through our NGO LIFE UTSAV and print my poetry Book through a publisher by the end of 2011.
